Verse of the day
Mark 11:23 (Douay-Rheims)
Amen I say to you that whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed and be cast into the sea, and shall not stagger in his heart, but be believe that whatsoever he saith shall be done; it shall be done unto him.

A generator that includes the whole Catholic canon

Most verse generators draw only from the 66 books of the Protestant canon. This one includes the deuterocanonical books — Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, and 1–2 Maccabees — so a random verse might come from Wisdom or Sirach as well as from John or Psalms.

The Douay-Rheims Bible, translated from the Latin Vulgate and revised by Bishop Challoner, is the classic English Catholic translation — and it is in the public domain, which is why we can share its complete text here.

Following the Vulgate tradition of the Douay-Rheims itself, Psalm references on this page use the Douay-Rheims numbering — so the beloved “Lord is my shepherd” psalm appears as Psalm 22 here rather than 23. The text is the same; only the numbering follows Catholic tradition.
